About Us

The Care Advocate Network (CAN) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) founded by individuals passionate about providing guidance and support to patients and caregivers. We are here to help navigate the challenges in the complex healthcare system. Our team is comprised of dedicated individuals not employed by hospitals or insurance companies, which means we are free from the constraints and restrictions that often limit traditional advocates' ability to support those in need truly.

Our advocates work closely with patients and caregivers to help them understand information, communicate their views, and recognize the pros and cons of different options. We support and educate patients and their families to make informed decisions about their healthcare journey.

We listen to your concerns and use our knowledge of the healthcare system to help you coordinate treatments, schedule medical appointments, find second opinions, and connect you to financial and legal resources. We can also find support groups and other social support, review and explain medical bills, and help resolve conflicts between patients and their healthcare providers. Communication with doctors, nurses, therapists, and insurance providers can be intimidating; our goal is to assist you in this process. We can offer support with a new or chronic diagnosis, aid you in navigating treatment and care options, facilitate the completion of forms and applications, and advocate for your rights and safety.

Navigating the healthcare system can be challenging and overwhelming, especially when combined with a scary diagnosis. Let us advocate for you and your family.

Together, we CAN!

“Everyone getting medical treatment should have someone to support them, to help raise questions, take notes, enhance communication with medical staff, and make sure they are receiving patient-centered care. This person is called a patient advocate.”
